About AFS

The African & Mediterranean Finance Society (AfriMed Finance Society or AFS) is an academic organization that aims at becoming a premier international forum for studying, communicating, encouraging, and celebrating the latest research in financial economics. AFS is particularly devoted to promoting knowledge and knowledge mobilization in Africa. AFS aims also to provide a mutual association of academics, practitioners, and doctoral students with an interest in researching relevant questions in the greater field of Finance to improve public understanding of financial economic problems. AFS encourages the study of finance in the African & Mediterranean economies and elsewhere in the world.

Conference Site

The University of Valencia, located in the city of Valencia (Spain), will host the AFS 2025 conference. Valencia is a well-connected city with multiple travel options, including plane, car, bus, and train. How To Get Here

Valencia is a well-connected city with multiple travel options, including plane, car, bus, and train. Whether you’re arriving from within Spain or internationally, the University of Valencia is easily accessible through convenient public transportation, major highways, and high-speed rail services.

By Plane

Valencia Airport (Manises Airport) is located about 8 km from the city center and offers connections to major European cities. You can take Metro Line 3 or Line 5 directly from the airport to the city center in about 25 minutes or use bus line 150. Taxis are also available, with fares averaging €20–25.

By Car

Valencia is connected to major cities in Spain via an excellent network of highways, including the AP-7 from Barcelona (350 km), the A-3 from Madrid (350 km), and the AP-7 from Alicante (180 km). Parking options are available near the University, but prior arrangements may be necessary.

The Estación de Autobuses de Valencia connects Valencia to cities across Spain and Europe with services from providers like ALSA, Avanza, and Eurolines. From the bus station, you can use local buses or taxis to reach the University of Valencia.

Valencia's two main train stations, Estació del Nord and Joaquín Sorolla, offer regional, long-distance, and high-speed AVE trains. The AVE connects Madrid in under 2 hours and Barcelona in about 3, with metro and bus links to the University.
